Best Plants for RVs in Rock Springs, WY

There are many perks to living a life on the road in your RV, either full-time or part of the year, but there are also some things you may miss while traveling. For those with a green-thumb, you may feel the loss of your gardening space when you pick up your home and move every few days or weeks. Luckily, there’s a lot of information out there on growing plants in tight spaces–even RVs and mobile homes! With the right care and choices, your home on wheels can enjoy the benefits and beauty that live plants bring, no matter where you are, with Rock Springs RV Storage! Low-Light Indoor Plants The best place to start when looking for the types of plants to house in your RV would be a search for low-light plants. While all plants need some type of light to grow, many are well-suited to indoor areas that get little sun, and some are even satisfied with indoor lighting! Here’s a list of four of our favorite low-light plants. Philodendron or “Heart Leaf” This plant tops our list, because it is considered by many as the easiest plant to grow indoors. It loves low light so much that it actually won’t do well at all if you place it in a sunny windowsill. The heart-shaped leaves offer a deep green hue to your home, and the plant can grow out and down if you decide to hang it or elevate it on a table. Boston Ferns A favorite of shady front porches in the summertime, a fern is a great choice for your RV as they love shade and are very hearty! The best ferns usually go on sale in early spring, so grab some up whenever you see them! These can be outside under an awning while you’re parked and brought inside during traveling, or they can be placed anywhere inside! Peace Lily The peace lily has a beautiful, fragrant white flower that will add both looks and a good smell to your home. They ...

4 RV Destinations for History Lovers by RV Storage Junction City KS

RV Destinations in Junction City, KS

An RV is the best way to see the country from the comfort of a “home away from home”, but not all RV trips need to be merely relaxing. Going on a trip to see some historical sights is one of the best ways to combine the comfort of an RV vacation with an educational and enlightening experience with RV Storage Junction City KS! It may be a bit of a drive to make it out to the East Coast, but once you’re there, there are weeks and months worth of historical sights to see. It’s a great spot to spend some of the summer, with cooler temperatures and beautiful, green scenery at every turn! Here are four of our favorite cities to take the RV for a bit of history and fun. Charleston, SC This beautiful city on the ocean in the heart of the South was founded in 1670 by the British as a small seaside village. By the time of the Civil War, this wealthy city had become the birthplace of the bloodiest years in America, when Confederate soldiers opened fire on Fort Sumter and the Union soldiers inside. The following years and war devastated this once beautiful city, but because of the cost of repairs after the war, the city was mostly patched up instead of rebuilt, which helped preserve some of the pre-Civil War architecture that can still be viewed today. There are a handful of parks located on the outskirts of the city, the most notable being Edisto Beach State Park along the coast. While in Charleston, make sure to check out the Fort Sumter National Monument, Battery Park, Charleston Market, and the many walking tours available of the city (including the ghost tours!) Charleston is considered by many to be one of the most romantic cities in the United States, which, combined with its fascinating history, makes it a fun destination for couples and families. Williamsburg, VA This small town offers visitors one of the longest glimpses back in ...

Tent Camping Basics with Green River Mini Storage

Travel

Tent Camping in Green River, WY

While the current generation’s lives may have been characterized by touch screens and social media, studies show that enthusiasm about camping is actually on the rise amongst American families and specifically young people. Fifty-one percent of families in the United States went camping last year, and the number of people participating in this pastime has increased by a million people every year since 2014. It can be intimidating to get into camping as a novice, especially when it seems like everyone else knows what they are doing. Here are some very basic tips for the most novice of campers, learned from our camping experiences with Green River Mini Storage. Tents are not as big as they claim If a tent is advertised as being a “four-person tent”, that usually means that four people can physically lay down in it–but that doesn’t mean it will be roomy enough for an extended stay. As a general rule of thumb, we find that you need to double the amount of people a tent will sleep for everyone you hope to fit in there. Often, it’s not a lot more expensive to go a bit bigger, and that extra space can definitely come in handy. Buy a tarp for under your tent Using a tarp under your tent is a good idea–it keeps the bottom of the tent from getting as worn down, it keeps the tent cleaner when being packed up, and it can help with moisture when the ground is wet or it’s raining. Do a test run setting up your tent before actually camping If possible, try setting up your tent a few times at home or in the yard before attempting it on your first camping trip. There’s nothing worse than getting to your campsite at night, in the rain, and realizing that it’s going to take a while to figure out how to set up your cover. Rake the ground under your tent before setting it up Using a rake on the ground before you set your tent ...

Boat Storage in Junction City, KS

Although days on the lake may seem far away right now, summer will be here before you know it. While there are many famous lakes in nearby places like Missouri and Oklahoma that you may choose to visit and boat on this summer, there are also some beautiful gems right in our home state, just waiting to be explored with Boat Storage Junction City KS! While lakes were not originally a huge part of Kansas’ landscape, over the years reservoirs have been constructed to create power, prevent floods, and provide drinking water. Many of these lakes are open to the public for recreational use and are stocked with a good variety of fish. Trails, paths, and beachy shores can also be found in these close-to-home bodies of water. Crawford State Fishing Lake Originally a project initiated by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression, this reservoir boasts a beautiful setting surrounded by nature–from grasslands to plains to woodlands. For those interested in wildlife, this lake boasts a large and varied bird population. Cardinals, hawks, dickcissels, indigo buntings, and many shorebirds all nest near this body of water. The fishing is also a main attraction, with many channel catfish, largemouth bass, bluegill, and crappie in the water. There are beautiful hiking paths and nature trails for hikers, runners, and bikers. Clinton Lake This reservoir near Lawrence was built in the 1970s to prevent flooding of the rivers nearby, and it was filled slowly to allow the natural plants and vegetation to survive and remain. This has created a perfect and healthy habitat for the many animals in the area and the fish within the lake. Clinton State Park is on the north shore of this lake. This park has great trails, campsites, and other outdoor activities like mountain hikes, an archery range, and a marina. Clark State Fishing Lake Nestled into the depths of the Bluff Creek Canyon, this lake provides some amazing views and terrain that are very different from the flat plains that surround it. Improving Your Phone Photography with Wyoming Storage Sheds

Improve Phone Photography in Wyoming

Our smartphones offer us a close-at-hand way to preserve many memories that come throughout the day, but if we are not careful, the photos we take won’t be high-quality enough to be preserved well through printing. We talked to lots of different photographers and compiled a few easy-to-learn tricks and tips to taking great phone photography brought to you by Wyoming Storage Sheds. Natural Light Phone camera lenses function best in natural light, so use that to your advantage! The best pictures to take are those with the light coming from behind you. Many find the early morning hours or early evening hours to be the best lighting times. Avoid the Flash We aren’t talking about the DC superhero here–when you’re in too dark of a setting to use natural light, try to use another light source instead of the flash on your phone. This could be a lamp shining from behind you or someone else’s phone flashlight. This will still provide the light you need without the white-out look that accompanies your flash. Get in Focus To get your camera to focus on the subject of your photo, tap your finger down on the screen over the object or person you’re focusing on. A yellow box should appear, and there may be visible adjustments made to the sharpness of the image. Adjust Brightness Along with focusing on the subject of your image, you can also adjust the brightness of the photo you’ll be taking by moving the slider that appears next to the yellow box up or down. In general, aim for under-exposed and darker images, as you can always brighten an image manually later in the editing process. Don’t Zoom As tempting as it may be, try to avoid zooming. This really reduces the quality of your picture! Better to be zoomed out in the photo you take and crop it later on. It’s best to get as close as possible to your subject to achieve as high-quality a photo as possible. Straight Horizons Nothing can ruin a beautiful photograph ...

Trailer Traveling and Storage in Junction City, KS

If you and your family have a travel bug, you know that there are so many amazing sites to see in this country of ours. From the red rocks of Utah and Colorado, to whale watching in the PNW, to the places of our country’s founding on the East Coast, there’s so much to take in! If you’ve never traveled by RV, it’s an investment worth considering! Here we will quickly lay out our five top reasons for traveling with a trailer and RV Storage Junction City, Kansas. It’s more affordable! Don’t close the article yet–we know what you’re thinking. RVs are expensive! Gas is expensive! You’re right–in the beginning, it is a big investment. But, once you start totaling up plane tickets, gas, hotel rooms, eating out, and pet boarding for every trip you may want to take over the next 10-15 years, suddenly an RV seems like a better investment, especially when considering the next few reasons. The RVIA (Recreational Vehicle Industry Association) has found that vacationing by RV is 23-59% cheaper than traveling by air or car. This could allow you to double the amount of time you spend traveling during the year, compared to the traditional vacations spent in hotel rooms and eating in restaurants. It feels like home! This is probably one of my favorite reasons for traveling by RV–no more dirty hotel rooms, cramped sitting spaces for your morning coffee, and kids not sleeping in a “new” space. In the RV, your sheets, towels, bathroom, kitchen, and couches are all yours–clean, familiar, and cozy. It truly becomes a home away from home that you can take anywhere–to see any part of the country! Hello, home-cooked meals! Another amazing reason to travel by RV–the ability to bring along food in the fridge and pantry, and cook for yourself when desired. This is one of the huge money-saving aspects of RV travel, and is also a great option for those with large families, where even a trip to McDonald's can be over $50, and ...
